Day 10 - Rome, Italy

Heading to Rome

It was an early morning for the Badgers as they left their hotel at 6:45 a.m. for an 8 a.m. train to Rome. After waiting for our track assignment, many of the team members went in search of coffee at the station! Before long, the Badgers were headed to their train, loaded all of their luggage and sat back to enjoy a three-hour ride on a high-speed train. The team was able to get some gorgeous views of the Italian countryside while riding.

Vatican Museum

Once arriving in Rome, the team dropped off its luggage at its hotel before catching the Metro to the Vatican Museum. The Badgers enjoyed looking at some of the world's greatest works of art, including the Sistine Chapel.

St. Peter's Basilica

After walking through the Vatican Museum, the Badgers had a chance to see St. Peter's Basilica, including the Holy Door, the Pieta and the altar. The team met outside of the Basilica for a team photo and some final photos of Vatican City.

So much More to see

After leaving Vatican City, the Badgers walked to see Castel Sant'Angelo. The team crossed the Tiber River and headed to the old city. The first stop there was Piazza Navona for what else but gelato! After a refreshing break, the Badgers continued on to the Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain. Most members of the team threw their coins in the fountain in hopes of returning to Rome!

Elephant shopping?

Carved wooden elephants were a favorite purchase of the Badgers as six 🐘 🐘 will be coming back to the United States!

Dinner and seeing more sights

After enjoying another incredible Italian meal in the old town, the Badgers strolled through the streets of Rome, stopping at the famous Spanish Steps. The team then hopped on the Metro again to head back to its hotel for a good night's sleep. Only one more day left on our tour!
